THE HABITAT OF TERMITES

Termites, for the most part, are ground-dwelling organisms. They live in chambers and tunnels that they create underground in Las Vegas. Termites survive by living in or around soil that is higher in moisture. This makes Termite inspections difficult. In some instances, they can live outside the soil but food supplies, moisture, and temperature in Las Vegas must be perfect for Termites to survive and for an inspector to find them during a Termite Inspection. Soil acts as a safety barrier for the termite against the harsh surface conditions such as low moisture levels here in Las Vegas, NV and also the high temperatures we experience here. Las Vegas pest control companies can work and perform Termite inspections or Termite treatments in temperatures as high as 115 degrees. This is not good for Termites here in Las Vegas and the surrounding Henderson and North Las Vegas areas. Termites will range in depth depending on surface soil temperatures which is why a Pest Control Termite inspection and Termite inspectors in Las Vegas use different methods to treat and pre-treat termites. Red Rock Pest Control always recommends a yearly termite inspection which can prevent a termite infestation in your home. A good Termite inspection can give you peace of mind and keep your home safe from termites. Call for your Termite inspection today.

 Termite Colony

A full-size Termite colony can range anywhere from 5,000 termites all the way up to 500,000 termites. The Queen and King Termites will live together throughout their lifespan. The Queen will live longer than the worker which only lives between 3 and 5 years. Pest Control is a key factor when it comes to Termites. Termite inspections can save your home from a Termite problem. Don’t be caught off-guard. Get a Termite inspection today. Call Red Rock Pest Control!

Termite Treatment & Extermination

Termites are a major wood destroying pest here in Las Vegas and all of Nevada. There is more time, effort, and money spent on preventing and controlling Termites along with termite inspections, than all other wood destroying pest combined. The Subterranean Termite is also one of the most spread out and destructive species of Termite in North America. This why Termite inspections in Las Vegas are so important and why Termite Inspections and prevention methods are so important for Termite control.

There are different species of Termites in Nevada while some are native to specific areas like southern and northern Nevada, other species of Termite are found statewide. The life cycles, damage, and appearance of each of the species of Termite are so similar that they really can’t be identified unless you know what you are looking for. For this reason, a professional termite inspector is so important when having a termite inspection performed. Each species has different characteristics between individuals in their colony yet they are almost impossible to distinguish between species. Termite control is a top priority when it comes to pest control and owning a home. Termite inspections yearly are recommended by a good pest control company.

LIFE CYCLE OF A TERMITE

In Las Vegas, Termite inspections are important because the life cycle of a termite varies from species to species. At certain times of the year, Primary Reproductive termites will emerge and it is usually in the warmer times of the year. This is a great time to get a Termite inspection. Termites will emerge primarily in spring and fall, also after favorable conditions are present such as adequate moisture. In Las Vegas, the Primary Reproductives will emerge from tiny exit holes in the soil. Pest Control companies look for this during Termite Inspections. After they emerge they will perform a short flight where they will drop to the ground. Then the Termites will lose their wings. Most people mistake these termites for flying ants during this stage. Not all of these alates will fly. Some of these termites will actually run across the ground for awhile and then lose their wings. After this, males and female termites will pair up and begin to mate and to attempt to start a colony. The male and female Termites will feed and groom each other and after only 1 day will copulate. A termite inspection is a key to preventing this from happening.

The growth of the Termite colony is slow at the beginning which makes it difficult to identify during a termite inspection. Not very many eggs are laid in the first year after the Termite colony begins. Not only that but it takes about 50 days for an egg to incubate and hatch. The growth of the Termite colony is complicated and generally has to be in prime conditions for males and female termites to be formed inside the termite colony. Las Vegas Pest control companies know this and this is why IPM or integrated pest management is introduced during a Termite inspection or a Termite treatment. Breaking one life cycle such as moisture can create a huge problem in the colony of termites which can stop production altogether. During a termite inspection, your termite inspector will give you all the details about termites and the termite control of your home.

Termite Inspections and What We Look For

Red Rock Pest Control performs termite inspections for Shelter tubes when notified for possible termite control. Shelter tubes, also known as “Mud Tubes” are a sure telltale sign that termites have moved into your Las Vegas home and that they are actively excavating your property. When performing a Termite Inspection, particles of either sand, soil, and wood, or sometimes all them, coated with a glue-like substance secreted by the termites, are left behind by the Termite. The fecal matter of a Termite is used to help keep the particles together kind of like a cement. There are 2 functions to the Termite shelter tubes here in Las Vegas. One way Termites use shelter tubes is to keep the wind out. Winds can lower moisture level, therefore, drying out the termites and killing them. The second reason is to keep natural enemies away from the termites. The Primary enemy of a termite in Las Vegas is Ants. There are a vast amount of different species of Termites In Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, Summerlin, and even Mt’s Edge. This means that Las Vegas Pest control Companies are not the only predators after termites. A good Pest control service is your best bet when dealing with termites. He explained what the process was and why as well as answered all our questions! He even helped roll out 4 long rolls of carpet ( not installed yet in our new home) to spray them preventatively! He was very professional and friendly as well! He will be back out in a month so we will see how the spray works… But so far the service has been excellent! Thank u John & Dustin!
